My family and I recently went on a canal cruise with Lovers Canal Cruises to experience the Amsterdam Light Festival, and it was an absolute blast! The light artworks were amazing and made me think about the impact of technologies and AI on our everyday lives. My son, usually glued to his phone, was even more engaged than usual.
Our driver was very friendly and gave great commentary about the light artworks during the boat tour. If you want to avoid the queue, choose an early slot or arrive 15 minutes in advance.
Had a great tour, audio guide was almost always on par with the actual scenery. Very recommendable at sunset.
The boat has a small toilet.
Nice 2hr cruise with a 4 course meal to go with, drinks are included too. Not much of a tour though would have been 5* if more of a guide but can't fault the food and experience
Not recommended for young people. The tour itself was relaxing and informative. Guide man was a nice one joking during the tour.

Do NOT book this if you have a tightly packed itinerary. In fact, even if you allow an hour between activities, you may be bound to run late because our tour started an hour late without any explanation or apology. They also crashed into another boat halfway through the tour, but that delay paled in comparison to the torturous wait. I don’t understand why they would allow you to book slots in advance in 15 minute intervals if they do not leave every 15 minutes. Or at least, had they mentioned that on their website, it would have made a difference for our planning.
However, the boat itself was fairly clean, and they provided free headphones to listen to information about the places we were going through.
Love the boat trip. Loved the view and the captain did a really good job of keeping us entertained.
Did the 9pm wine and cheese cruise on Saturday night and it was great! The food tray for every 2 ppl was ample and the cheese (especially the "Old Amsterdam") was great! Green and black olives, pickled onions, 2 different cheeses and 2 different meats as well as mixed nuts. bottled still water (refillable) was provided on each table. The wine was refilled non-stop and both the red and the white were good!
There wasn't so so much talking in terms of the tour portion, (like on the day cruises) just enough for a night cruise. As a result it doesn't feel like total tourist sight seeing - we liked that! It was a live person, not pre recorded and was all in excellent English. The music on board was not so loud you couldn't converse comfortably. The wait staff came by each table to take photos with your own camera which was a nice touch for the selfie failures!
Had a great time on this cruise. We had a great cruise and got to see a lot of great sites and it was cool to see the city from a different perspective. The captain was friendly and knowledgeable.
